For Immediate Release
March 4, 2004
Falls Church, VA - DRI International, a leading authority
on business continuity planning, is recognizing Global Business
Continuity Week, March 7-13, 2004, with a citation from the United
States Congress. Representative Tom Davis (R-VA), chairman of the
U.S. House of Representatives Government Reform Committee and Representative
Jim Moran (D-VA), who serves on the House Appropriations Committee
are strong Congressional voices and advocates of homeland security.
They issued this citation in the Congressional Record today:
"Business continuity management serves to protect
a wide array of organizations from all types of potential disruptions.
We are proud to mention that much of the necessary training and
certification which enables businesses worldwide to promptly respond
in the face of disaster is provided by DRI International, located
in Northern Virginia. This week is essential in raising awareness
of the need for business continuity management, while it also recognizes
the crucial role business continuity professionals play in our economy.
...We are honored to congratulate all the businesses
participating in this commemorative week and are proud to dedicate
this acknowledgment to continuity planners worldwide. We call upon
our colleagues to join us in applauding their efforts, and thanking
them for their daily contributions to the global business continuity.
Davis' committee has held hearings on emergency preparedness
in the National Capital Region and he understands the importance
of business continuity planning in this effort. "Global Business
Continuity Awareness Week is an opportunity for all organizations,
public and private, to assess their readiness in case of business
interruptions," says DRI International Executive Director Tom Mawson.
"A recent Harris Interactive Survey showed that only 15 percent
of executives believe their organizations are prepared in the area
of business continuity."
