The Business Recovery Managers Association (BRMA)
will hear four perspectives on integrating information security
into business continuity planning this month at the Union Bank of
California on 400 California Street in San Francisco starting at
10 AM Thursday March 25, 2004.
The Business Recovery Managers Association (BRMA),
a professional association, consists of corporate and government
continuity planners, and emergency response managers from financial,
recovery services, manufacturing, healthcare, insurance, education,
research, and retail sectors.
Edmund Lam from San Jose State University will discuss
the need for security when planning, implementing and testing Business
Continuity (BC) Plans. He will cover how security could be compromised,
as well as how to ensure consideration and implementation of security
during the BC planning and implementation process.
Bob Cartwright from Enterprise Security and Availability
Group, LLC (ESAAG), will discuss the need for Information Security
(IS) and BC to work together to support the business objectives
and goals.
Lee Milligan and Linda Pahkim from Strohl Systems
Group, Inc., focus on Business Continuity Planning (BCP)controls
and automation, what was available prior to Y2K, what forms of control
automation are available today and what they focus on, and what
BCP controls and automation may be available in the future.
Mike Wilson from PricewaterhouseCoopers, discusses
trends identified in the 2003 Information Security Survey of 7,500
organizations conducted by CIO Magazine and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
BRMA meetings are held around the Bay on the last
Thursday of the month and are usually close to BART.
