Our hearts go out to the countless masses still suffering in the aftermath of Haiti’s earthquake.  We must continue to donate money, goods and services to help with the disaster response.

However, in the midst of these unimaginable horrors, we need to ask ourselves about the importance of disaster management planning and preparedness.  In the CNN article below, read the story of doctors doing everything they can to provide critical assistance—and failing because of nonexistent disaster management.

While pre-event storage or positioning of emergency equipment may require significant budgets, planning does not.  Many of the problems faced by the doctors wouldn’t have existed if planning had taken place.
