Telework Week Is Scheduled for February 2011

Both government agencies and private companies will be urged to have their employees work from home during the week of Feb. 14-18, 2011 as part of national Telework Week 2011.

The Telework Exchange, a public-private partnership focused on demonstrating the tangible value of telework, is sponsoring the initiative, according to NewsFactor.com.

“Interested participants can visit www.teleworkexchange.com/teleworkweek to pledge to telework, calculate potential commuting cost savings and environmental savings by teleworking, as well as to learn more about how to get started through a series of free telework-focused Webcasts,” the article says.

Telework is critical to business continuity planning and supports the federal government’s push to green business practices. It also provides flexible working arrangements for parents.

"Telework Week is a call to action for agencies/organizations and employees alike," the article quotes Cindy Auten, general manager of Telework Exchange. "It is the perfect time to start a telework discussion with management.”
