Disaster Planning Exercises Available from FEMA

FEMA is now providing, free to be downloaded for your use, exercises that take your team through a realistic disaster scenario. The presentations include discussions about how your organization would plan, protect, respond and recover from various incidents.

The first two exercises, simulating a major hurricane and a railroad chemical accident, include simulated television news videos suggesting exercise-focused local reporting of the disasters. This feature aims to add a sense of realism and motivate interactive discussion.

The exercises typically take two to four hours to complete and include instructor’s notes. They are designed so that a facilitator and a team of participants can conduct the exercises internally.
