Video Teaches Terror Detection

Even terrorists slip up on occasion. Security experts believe the 9/11 hijackers might have been stopped in time if hospitality workers and other citizens had known how to spot suspicious behavior.

In an article on the Homeland Security Today website, Anthony L. Kimery says the Department of Homeland Security, together with Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, have unveiled a video to educate citizens about how to recognize signs of terrorist activity.

Governor Ritter said the charge to empower the public with knowledge “is a key component in creating prepared and vigilant communities across America.”

The video for Colorado citizens, “Recognizing 8 Signs of Terrorism,” is similar to a DVD produced in Nevada last year that covers surveillance, information gathering, testing security, planning, suspicious behavior, rehearsal, and getting into position.

The Colorado Office of Homeland Security awarded $30,400 for the new project.
