The Obama administration’s Department of Homeland Security promises to consider the opinions of its public and business partners before conducting a cybersecurity drill in September 2010.

In an article on www.nextgov.com, Jill R. Aitoro says DHS will test its new cyber response plan during CyberStorm III, a large-scale exercise that will simulate a cyberattack. Meanwhile, the department welcomes comments from organizations and agencies covered by the plan. These include more than 150 participants from federal, state and local governments, and organizations in the transportation, banking and other critical infrastructures.

“There are multiple authorities or lack of authorities associated with all partners in the public and private sectors,” said Michael Brown, deputy assistant secretary for cybersecurity and communications.

The plan defines each sector’s roles and responsibilities in a potential widespread cyberattack.
