Annual Awareness

October is here again, and with it begins National Cyber Security Awareness month. Working to promote, publicize and educate on the topics of cyber security, the activities surrounding this month offer opportunities for government, private industry and the public to discuss important topics, ranging from the personal to the national.

For this year’s events, the weekly themes are:
  • Week 1: Everyday Steps Towards Online Safety with Stop.Think.Connect., offering guidelines on how to protect one’s personal information, privacy, and passwords online;
  • Week 2: Cyber from the Break Room to the Board Room, providing education for employees on how to ensure they’re protecting company information and security;
  • Week 3: Recognizing and Combating Cybercrime, detailing common approaches and attacks associated with cybercrime;
  • Week 4: Our Continuously Connected Lives: What’s Your ‘App’-titude?, offering advice on key things to consider when acquiring Internet connected technologies — whether a new app, or an IoT device; and
  • Week 5: Building Resilience in Critical Infrastructure, discussing the importance of securing key societal necessities, like electricity or transportation.
