2nd National Emergency Summit On Public Warning In America
June 28, 2004, 9 AM to 5 PM, McClean, Virginia
You are invited to attend the 2nd National Emergency Summit on Public Warning in America to be held in McLean, Virginia on June 28. The purpose of this summit is to assess the current state of America's public warning capability and decide whether to continue the Partnership for Public Warning (PPW). Registration is free.

The 1st National Summit on Public Warning in America was held on November 29, 2001. The 130 emergency management experts from government and industry who attended that meeting were brought together by a shared concern that citizens are at risk because existing public warning systems fail to effectively reach many of those in danger during times of emergency. This fact was tragically demonstrated on September 11, 2001 - when none of the nation's public warning systems was activated. At that first summit, government and industry agreed to work together on this issue through a newly created Partnership for Public Warning (PPW).

It is time to assess the state of our nation's public warning system. Are we better off than we were three years ago? What has been done - and what more needs to be done - to address this important issue? Is there a continuing need for a public-private partnership? Plan now to attend this important summit. Send in your registration by June 23. Attendance is being limited to 125 people in order to facilitate discussion. For more information, call (703) 883-7620 or email information@ppw.us or visit the website at http://www.PartnershipForPublicWarning.org.
