APCO Wins ASAE 2005 Associations Advance America Award Of Excellence
Washington, DC - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials, International, has won the Award of Excellence in the 2005 Associations Advance America Awards program, a national competition sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Washington, DC. APCO received the award for its Public Safety Foundation of America (PSFA). This program is now in the running to receive a Summit Award, ASAE's top recognition for association programs, to be presented in ceremonies at ASAE's 6th Annual Summit Awards Dinner Sept. 27, in Washington, DC. The PSFA was established by APCO for the purpose of advancing the deployment of enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) services. Its objective is to provide critical funding and technical support to public safety answering points (PSAPs) and local emergency response officials to enable the implementation of wireless E9-1-1.
